Since its foundation, CGATE has enjoyed continued growth as a company. In 2016 the decision was therefore made to found a branch office in Düsseldorf, which opened its doors on 1st November 2016. Then, on 1st January 2018, CGATE Logistics Poland was founded with its own independent management team. This office also supplies our entire range of logistics services. Since 1st April 2019 there is another location in the United Kingdom. With our new branch office CGATE Logistics UK Ltd., formerly B&N Logistics Ltd., we are expanding our market share. Contact our head office in Hamburg, our Düsseldorf branch, CGATE Poland or UK! We will put together the best logistics solution for you and provide you with any information you require.

Important information

Following the recent delays at the Port of Felixstowe we wanted to update you on the situation.

These delays are mainly being caused due to reasons such as lost working days due to recent storms and high winds, productivity not fully back due to new hygiene guidelines (COVID-19), empty containers build up which is congesting the port, delays of up +/- 4-5 hours to load/unload even with a booking in place and staff shortage across the Port’s many different departments and activities.

This is added to the on-going problems with vessels being diverted to other UK ports, shortage of HGV drivers and the non-acceptance of empty container returns at FXT due to the congestion which is causing the Lines to request diversion of empty returns to other port locations across the country. Unfortunately these actions will regretfully generate extra costs that we will have to pass on to you.

Our team is working tirelessly to minimize the delays and extra costs for your company’s operation.

Felixstowe Port Authority is regularly being pressured by forwarders, hauliers, shipping lines, Port Users Association and BIFA in a combined effort to push for an urgent solution to the problem.

Should you have any doubts or questions please feel free to contact the CGATE Logistics UK team at any time.

News Brexit

U.K. has formally confirmed to the EU that no extension will be required, and none will be accepted in case the EU requests one. That sets the Brexit date invariably for 31.12.2020

Customs Clearance will be required for Imports and Exports after 31st December regardless of whether a FTA with EU has been agreed. HMRC will release the UK Global Tariff which will apply to all imports from 1st January 2021, however some duty may benefit from preferential rates subject to UK and EU signing a Free Trade Agreement.

Import/Export entries will also be required between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. HMRC cannot introduce unilateral duty facilities in NI as it will be working to the EU Customs code, although NI remains part of the United Kingdom territory.

We strongly recommend you issue a valid UK EORI number for imports and exports to/from the United Kingdom.
